Lucid Software

August 2022-Present

Being on SRE teaches you high level networking design, familiarity with the resources that run the internet, and a personal understanding of how important monitoring, testing, and performant code are. Ater only 9 months of being at Lucid my impact on the SRE team was evident and I was promoted.

While at Lucid I have worked with tools such as Terraform, Chef, Akamai, Datadog, Splunk, HAProxy, AWS, and many more. My job requires me to code in Ruby, Python, Scala, Typescript, and many other languages. I have provisioned servers and serverless architecture, helped Lucid achieve FEDRAMP compliancy, and spent nights working to fix production issues as part of my on call responsibility. As an SRE, I am often thrown into projects and areas of code where I have very little previous experience. This allows me to prove over again that I am a tenacious learner.

Early on I took ownership of and refactored our entire HAProxy loadbalancing infrastructure. This drastically enhanced code readability and maintainability. As a result countless initiatives to stand up new infrastructure were made far easier and faster. It also allowed us to better respond to malicious attacks such as DDOS attacks to our marketing sites. My work allowed us to reorganize our infrastructure to prevent attacks to our marketing site from affecting our main app load balancers. Other developers at Lucid are often pointed in my direction for guidance in this critical section of our networking architecture.

I was the leader of numerous projects that allow Lucid to run from databases and servers all across the world under one domain name. My efforts have made it so Lucid can begin serving the site from a new AWS region in weeks as opposed to the months it took us to do this the first time.

Whenever I find free time I spend it writing countless tools and tests to enhance the developer experience at Lucid. These tools have included automatic terraform migration tools, AWS EC2 provisioning tools, and automatic validation on dev changes to our HAProxy configuration.
